Bombardier Signs Contract with American Airlines for 15 Firm CRJ900 Aircraft
Bombardier Commercial Aircraft recently announced the signing of a new, firm order for fifteen new CRJ900 jets with American Airlines. The purchase agreement of these new jets includes options for an additional fifteen CRJ900’s. Looking at the list price for the jets, the order for this purchase is estimated to be more than 700 million dollars. Once delivered, American Airlines will benefit from the newest enhancement to the CRJ Series jets. These enhancements include the atmosphere cabin, which offers a more pleasant experience for passengers while also accommodating the largest amount of “oversized” roller bags for all aircraft in the same category. Fred Cromer, President of Bombardier Commercial Aircraft, is delighted by American Airline’s trust in Bombardier. The Airline’s confidence in the CRJ900 supports this trust.
American Airlines has chosen PSA Airlines to operate the new CRJ900s in a dual class configuration. There will be seventy-six seats, with twelve of them being first class. The new Atmosphere cabin creates new standards for an upgraded passenger experience in the regional jet market. These new features include a bigger lavatory, enhanced connectivity in the cabin, and bigger living space. The new design of the Atmosphere cabin also gives passengers the opportunity to carry on their bigger roller bags, which cuts down the need to check bags in at the counter.
